Driver's License
*Newcomer's to Birmingham have 30 days after establishing residency to purchase an Alabama driver's license.
*New residents with a valid out-of-state license take only an eye exam, new drivers must also take a written and a road test and have their Social Security number.

*Newcomers to Birmingham have 30 days after establishing to purchase an Alabama automobile tag.
*For pre-1975 vehicles, a bill of sale is the only document needed, but all ownership documents are required to buy tags for models from 1975 to the present.
*If a vehicle is purchased that does not have a valid Alabama license tag, residents have 10 days to obtain one.
